Unlike the attention given to unipolar depression, its sibling, bipolar depression, still carries a strong stigma that leads those with the diagnosis to feel ousted and unwanted from society. During a ‘mixed episode’, someone can experience both depression and mania/hypomania at the same time. This sunflower demonstrates the overlapping duality of emotions as a bee navigates its’ path between both emotions existing at the same moment.
